Eine Koproduktion von Ensemble Proton Bern, basler madrigalisten, Musikfestival Bern und Schweizerischer Tonkünstlerverein
The programme “espace éloigné” was performed for the first time during the “Tonkünstlerfest” at Musikfestival Bern in 2013 and is exclusively dedicated to Swiss musical creation. Alongside works for a cappella choir by Denis Schuler and Urs Peter Schneider, three new works were written and presented for the first time.
New works by Matthias Arter and Isabel Klaus, commissioned by Ensemble Proton Bern and the Association of Swiss Musicians, take their inspiration from the theme of the festival, “WahnWitz” «folly» or «lunacy» and focus on two newly developed woodwind instruments played by members of Ensemble Proton Bern: lupophone, a bass oboe with extended range and contraforte, an acoustically superior contrabassoon. These works for solo instrument and Ensemble will be complemented by a new commission for choir and Ensemble by Bernese composer Christian Henking, written for the basler madrigalisten.
