Richard Elliot Haynes studied the clarinet at universities in Switzerland and Australia. Following the completion of the Soloist Diploma with Honours and being awarded the 1st Prize of the International Nicati Competition and the Music Prize of the Eduard Tschumi Foundation, he has appeared at many international festivals including Acht Brücken, Archipel, Berliner & Salzburger Festspiele, Holland Festival, Lincoln Center New York & Lucerne Festivals, Festival d’Automne Paris, Ultima Festival Oslo as well as the International Arts Festivals of the Australian capital cities.
He has performed as a soloist with Camerata Ataremac, Berner Symphonieorchester, Philharmonischen Orchester Vorpommern, Staatstheaterorchester Darmstadt, National Symphony Orchestra Ireland and the Christchurch, Melbourne, Queensland und Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras. Haynes has been active as a multifaceted clarinettist for over twenty years by way of regular work with orchestras and ensembles such as Basel Sinfonietta, Camerata Ataremac, Collegium Novum Zürich, Elision, Ensembles Modern, Musikfabrik, Nouvel Contemporain, Phoenix, Proton, Resonanz, Klangforum Wien, Philharmonia Zürich, SWR and WDR Symphony Orchestras.
