To celebrate the five year anniversary of Ensemble Proton, around 30 composers will write their own “musical gift” in the form of a up to five-minute miniature for the Ensemble. A collaboration within the last five years has taken place with all of the composers involved and this jubilee is a wonderful way to bring everyone together.
Each of these world premieres begin and end on the same pitch, so that the Ensemble can string them together like a pearl necklace. Instrumentation-wise, each composer may choose from the core instrumentation of the Ensemble: flute, oboe, clarinet, harp, piano, violin, cello and conductor, as well as their doublings such as lupophone, triple harp or synthesiser.
